Veganmania Wien MQ: Museumsquartier, 4 to 7 June 2026
The June edition is held in the Museumsquartier, one of Vienna's most central cultural spaces. Four days of vegan street food, produce, and lifestyle vendors in the heart of the city.
Veganmania Wien Donauinsel: Donauinsel, 18 to 20 September 2026
The September edition moves to the Donauinsel, Vienna's river island, for a larger outdoor festival format. This is the flagship edition of Veganmania, drawing the larger crowds of the two editions.
Both events are free entry. Both are entirely plant-based inside the festival perimeter.
Vienna as a Vegan City
Vienna has a stronger vegan food scene than most central European capitals. The city has a range of dedicated vegan restaurants and a growing number of vegan-friendly options across different districts.
The challenge for strict vegans is that Vienna's traditional food culture, Viennese cuisine, Austrian dairy, and schmaltz-based preparations, sits alongside the newer plant-based scene in the same city. Mainstream restaurants in Vienna may offer vegan dishes that share preparation areas with animal products, use animal-derived glazes, or rely on staff who do not understand cross-contamination in the way a dedicated kitchen would.
Neighbourhoods with stronger dedicated vegan coverage include the 6th and 7th districts (Mariahilf and Neubau) and the area around Naschmarkt. These areas have a higher concentration of dedicated vegan venues.
Outside these areas, verification before visiting is more important.

Veganmania draws a large crowd. Restaurants near the Museumsquartier during the June event and near the Donauinsel during September will be busier than usual. Busy kitchens under pressure are more likely to have cross-contamination incidents, not less.

Donauinsel (September edition)
Donauinsel, 1210 Vienna. U1 line to Donauinsel station. The island is accessible from both the 21st and 22nd districts. Large open-air site. Arrive early for a good position.
Vienna is well connected by international rail. Direct trains run from Munich (under 4 hours), Zurich, Budapest, Prague, and Berlin. The Hauptbahnhof (main station) connects to the U-Bahn network throughout the city.
